About

The South East Texas Tomato Festival (SETTFest) is an informal gathering of tomato growers from Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and surrounding areas who want to get others excited about open-pollinated and heirloom tomatoes.

The SETTFest.com website is a resource for tomato growers in South East Texas. In addition to our annual tomato festival (now in its third year), we are working to provide advice for small and large-scale gardeners on scheduling, soil preparation, pest and disease control, and variety selection.

We will continue to develop articles about gardening in S.E. Texas that address the challenges and bust some of the myths about gardening here in order to provide the best possible information.

Mission: We believe that gardeners in S.E. Texas should not limit themselves to just hybrid tomato varieties with purported disease tolerances, but should also feel free to try a wide selection of varieties until they find choices that have great flavor, productivity, and other characteristics that they are looking for.
