About

The South East Texas Tomato Festival (SETTFest) is an informal gathering of tomato growers from Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and surrounding areas who want to get others excited about open-pollinated and heirloom tomatoes.

The SETTFest.com website is a resource for tomato growers in South East Texas. In addition to our annual tomato festival, we are working to provide advice for small and large-scale gardeners on scheduling, soil preparation, pest and disease control, and variety selection.

We will continue to develop articles about gardening in S.E. Texas that address the challenges and bust some of the myths about gardening here in order to provide the best possible information.

Mission: We believe that gardeners in S.E. Texas should feel free to grow a wide selection of tomato varieties until they find choices that have great flavor, productivity, and other characteristics that they are looking for. We have found through trial-and-error that there is no need to limit one’s self to varieties recommended by state and agriculture bodies.
