Event

The South East Texas Tomato Festival (SETTFest) is an open-to-the-public informal tomato tasting and enthusiast gathering of folks from Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and surrounding areas. No registration fee or forms are required. We do suggest a $5 donation per person to cover costs of the event and we would appreciate it if you would Contact Us before the event to help us judge how many people might be attending. Please let us know what items (such as bread, fresh veggies, salads, desserts, etc.) you will be bringing.

The 2009 SETTFest occurred on June 13, 2009 at Washington on the Brazos state park.
We are considering dates and locations for 2010. Please check back in late fall!

SETTFest

Who should attend?

We invite aspiring home gardeners and commercial growers alike whether you grow hybrids, heirlooms, open pollinated varieties, or any combination of the above. SETTFest is an opportunity to experience unfamiliar tomato varieties, some of which have been grown for 100 years but forgotten by the public at large. Tomatoes come in all shapes and sizes — they are not all red, round, and flawless in appearance. We are a gathering of friends who happen to share a common interest and want to show the fruits of our efforts and maybe learn something from each other.

This is first and foremost a tomato tasting. This is not a formal competition and there are no “rules” except that every reasonable effort should be made to label each tomato variety with the correct name.
